Important Things To Think About Often
In this episode, I explore the Five Remembrances, a Buddhist teaching from the *Upajjhatthana Sutta* designed to loosen the grip of attachment. These contemplations—that we are subject to aging, illness, and death; that all loved ones will change and we will be separated from them; and that our actions are our only true possessions with inescapable consequences—serve as a sobering reminder of reality, not meant to be depressing but to humble us and overcome pride. By reflecting on these truths, we can appreciate the preciousness of our present moments, understand impermanence, and take ownership of our actions, ultimately transforming fear and focusing our minds on what truly matters.
