The Journey Is The Goal
In this episode, I explore the idea that the journey is the goal, drawing a parallel to a train journey where focusing solely on the destination causes us to miss the experience of traveling. I discuss how our tendency to focus on end goals, like getting a degree instead of learning, or seeking future rewards, leads us to a utilitarian mindset that diminishes the present moment. A key takeaway is to practice doing things for their own sake, whether it's washing dishes, talking to someone, or even meditating, rather than solely for an anticipated outcome. This shift in perspective can lead to greater contentment and a more enjoyable experience of life, much like finding treasure in contentment or realizing there's nothing to "get" in spiritual practice. I invite you to practice this by focusing on the process rather than the destination, and to enjoy the drive, so to speak, in all aspects of your life.
