What Makes You You?
In this episode, I explore the Buddhist concept of "non-self" (anattā) by breaking down the Five Aggregates (skandhas) that constitute our experience of being. I explain that what we perceive as a solid, independent self is actually a dynamic collection of form, sensation, perception, mental formations, and consciousness, all of which are impermanent and interdependent. Understanding these aggregates helps us see that our sense of self arises from conditioned responses and clinging, and by observing them without attachment, we can cultivate a more liberated perspective on our experiences and reduce suffering. This teaching offers a practical way to relate differently to our sense of self, encouraging us to observe our thoughts and feelings without identifying them as our essential being.
