Smarter Not Harder
In this episode, I explore the concept of skillful effort, a key component of the Buddhist Eightfold Path. I explain that skillful effort isn't about working harder, but rather working smarter by understanding when to apply effort and when to rest, much like tuning a guitar. I share the story of a student with Parkinson's disease who excelled in paramotor training by knowing his own physical and mental limits, demonstrating how self-awareness and introspection lead to effective effort. This principle applies to all areas of life, from meditation and mindfulness practice to work and relationships, encouraging us to ask if we can be more skillful in the effort we apply to achieve our goals.
