
The Pillars Of Joy
In this episode, I explore the eight pillars of joy, drawing from the book *The Book of Joy* by the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. I differentiate between happiness, which is a fleeting emotion dependent on conditions, and joy, which is an immeasurable attitude that arises from within and benefits both ourselves and others. The eight pillars—perspective, humility, humor, acceptance, forgiveness, gratitude, compassion, and generosity—are presented not as commandments, but as natural unfoldings that cultivate this inner attitude of joy. These pillars encourage us to see reality with wisdom, recognize our interdependence, embrace life's challenges with acceptance and forgiveness, appreciate the present moment with gratitude, extend kindness to ourselves and others through compassion, and contribute positively through generosity, ultimately fostering a deep sense of connection and meaning.
